Before & after modification

Bedroom One, as it was, now fitted with ensuite bathroom is now finished.

Ensuite Size 9' 0" by 10' 0" approx.

Work got started on the 8th January, progress so far :-

Works external to Bathroom

Connection to Fosse Septic via 100mm and 40mm pipes should be completed by 16th Jan. This work entails 20 metres of 100mm & 10 metres of 40mm pipe, installed underground, up and along the house wall, through a 300mm stone wall (two holes for 100 & 40mm pipe) at a height of 6 metres to reach the proposed ensuite. Now awaits connection to the various bathroom items.

Access from Bedroom to new Ensuite to Start 18th Jan. Access now completed, 22nd Jan.

Re arranged room

Within New Bathroom

Re routing of heating system and electrics, repairs to floor due to start 24th Jan.

3rd Feb, Floor, Heating system re routed, Wall studding 75% complete, consumer unit installed.

Installation of electrics started.

Installation of Velux window and roof vent yet to start.

Watch this space.....

To be fitted out with, Toilet, Sink and Shower.

New door to bathroom

Going up the new stairs

Consumer unit and heating system in position.

100mm WC and 40mm drains for sink, shower etc, in position.

View from within the new room, old beams to be left exposed.

3rd February, most of the studding is completed, coming week should see walls plaster boarded, Velux/ventalation installed and electrics progressing to a more finished state. Some of this work depends on the weather and at present forecast not good.

Light, under stairs.

Going up the stairs, lights in ceiling, fitted.

Going down stairs.

Left of door, centre cross beam to be remove, to fit shower, ceiling plaster board fitted.

Electrics, top of stairs.

Toilet area to be. Velux window with insulation fitted.

Electrics, all runs done, connections finished as Plaster boarding is finished by Wednesday, 11th March.

WC area, 100mm waste pipe in view.

Mains fuse box and bedroom heater, top of stairs.

Plasterer due on Monday 17th March, arrived 10:30am

April & May have been busy with other works, (and bookings) so the bathroom work is on hold at present.

Re-started June

Above, shows toilet and sink areas and below where the shower will be located.

June the tiling completed and cold & hot cold water pipework finished up to rear of walls for Shower, Sink and Toilet.

A cold water filter system also installed which is now in use on all hot water taps in the house and cold water supply to the new ensuite.

French water in this area is chalky and needs to be filtered before use.

Target, to have flooring cork tiles, sink and toilet in operation by 16th June. Shower to be fitted later and painting to be done when no visitors around with paint from UK.

Toilet & Sink were in operation on the 16th as planned. The cork tiles 11m2 in area, took 5.5ltrs of yatch varnish to get to the required finish, this took five days to do, waiting for each coat dry before applying the next coat. (Varnish cost 100 euros approx) Toilet & sink were instaled within the day. (S & T cost 120 euros approx)

Details of Shower now installed and working:15th September 2008

Shower cabinet by OCL model 'Pompei' is a hydromassage shower. It as four different shower settings, overhead, personal, seated body, standing body. Also fitted is a radio, extraction fan, two lights. Size 210 x 90 cm approx.
